The Pope Wears Prada?

When Esquire Magazine painted Pope Benedict as “accessoriser of the year”, this prompted the Vatican to release an official statement denying that the Pontiff’s shoes are not Prada.

According to the Vatican, “The pope, in summary, does not wear Prada, but Christ,” it said.

Esquire’s inclusion of the pope on its best-dressed men list was, it said, “of a frivolity that is very characteristic of an era that tends to trivialise and does not understand”.

The Vatican did not say what brand the Pope’s shoes are or who made them.

Jeez… is this a big deal?
