More Awesome DCUC sets - Wave 6, 7, and 2-packs

October 11, 2008

Hawkman - Wave 6
The next waves of Mattel’s DCUC toy line just keep pouring on the awesomeness!

Here are previews of the DCUC’s next waves - 6 and 7. Plus, they’ve come out with their 2-packs. This, as a nod (with an evil smirk) to Hasbro’s Marvel Legends’ 2-packs - which, in my opinion, mostly sucks. Not to mention that DCUC’s Collect and Connect lineup of characters are vastly getting more support and positive feedback from fans and collectors, as compared to Hasbro’s current crap (err, ok - “crop”) of Build-A-Figure selections.

So without further bitterness and Hasbro-bashing, here are prototype photos of Wave 6 of the DCUC line…

DCUC WAVE 6 - here we’ve got Kalibak as the Collect and Connect figure. Though my favorites are definitely Capt. Marvel and Hawkman, putting-in Mr. Miracle is a great move, too - considering that Wave 7 includes his wife, Big Barda.

Here’s DCUC WAVE 7, with Atom Smasher being this wave’s Collect and Connect figure. Though I wouldn’t get the blue-camo’ed Aquaman (and he just came-off the previous wave with Black Manta!) - notables are Blue Beetle and Booster Gold! Nice selection all in just one wave! The Flash is also worth acquiring, of course and so does Big Barda, since Mr. Miracle is in wave 6. You could have some action figure smooching right there…oh, uhhm, yeah..just check out the photos…

Need to catch up with your collections? Strictly following themes when doing said collection? Then watch out for these DCUC 2-packs!

Orion and Lightray - Not a fan of both, though I really commend the detail on Orion.

Batgirl and Azrael - though I’d prefer Batgirl to be in glossy black - her 2-packs have always been of great selections - once with Batman, now with Azrael. Definitely another pack worth checking out and acquiring!

Cyborg Superman and Mongul - I’ve kept my eyes on that great big bulky Mongul sculpt ever since - and pairing him off with the Cyborg Supes may up the price, but the value certainly triples!

Green Lantern and Abin Sur - The Hal Jordan sculpt still looks great - if you missed him from the singles purchases, getting this 2-pack is indeed worth it, especially with Abin Sur raking-up the value. Though I know, the variant Sinestro is more popular - but he had his chance from the previous wave.

Adam Strange and Starfire - even if I don’t like Adam Strange in any way, the details on the sculpt are really spot-on. Starfire, as usual, can light up loins with that sculpt. A little too ‘clean’ on the bosom area though, hehe. Still, I’d definitely get this 2-pack.

Needless to say, the line-ups that we’ve seen so far are really making waves (psh!) across the 6-inch collectibles market. They’re a bit expensive and pretty hard to acquire where I come from, but the quality by which the Four Horsemen have been setting upon for this series is really winning over collectors everyone. The selections and line-ups are top-notch - making collection of specific hero-villain combinations quite satisfying to pursue.

All I can say for what these previews have generated among action figure fans (especially DC lunatics) is that they’re indeed filling-up the notch for super-articulated and truly great looking-sculpts.’Nuf sed!
