Metal Gear Online Beta

June 1, 2008

Fans of Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece, Metal Gear will be happy to note that the beta phase for Metal Gear Online recently went live last April 2008. In this new PS3 game, Metal Gear Online allows up to 16 players to sneak and attack in online combat scenarios. The game uses a new team system called SOKKU, which allows you quickly and easily access info on your allies.

IGN reports that “Metal Gear Solid Online for PlayStation 3 initially is being released as part of the Metal Gear Online Starter Pack, a package included with Metal Gear Solid 4.”

The online version has been reportedly been plagued with technical problems due to the sheer number of people logging into the game.

The official teaser site for MGO states that “MGO carries over the backdrop and control system of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) to original online maps and game modes, with future downloadable expansion packs (planned to be released after official service begins) adding additional maps, characters, and other features.”
