I think the drum kit featured here is the ION premium additional drum kit for Rockband II.

https://www.drumrocker.com/products/index.php

You have to bear in mind that the standard kit with Rockband II consists of 4 toms only.

http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2008/07/11/rock-band-2-standard-and-premium-drums-tracks-revealed

Also bear in mind that game play functionality in Rockband 2 supports 4 pads and a Bass drum. So if you have the ION super setup, drum pads will share the same colour as another drum, so a tomtom, will share 'yellow' with a symbol for example.

The Guitar hero supports an extra drum, so you have functionality for 6. Three toms, two symbols, and bass drum.

Comparing like for like on a default, standard level, GH4 takes the lead there as well, but if you're willing to spend another 300 pieces of eight on the ION kit, then Rockband just about trumps the lead. I dont like the idea of drums sharing the same colours in game though, so i'm still in two minds about that one.

My 2 cents :)

first off, i just wanted to say that this article was so helpful, so thanks. if i wasn't basically broke (i'm going to be when i can finally get one of these bad boys), i'd definitely get both. i'm loving the rockband set list, so i think i'm going to go with that, but my question was is the GH4 guitar compatible with RB2? and another one, can you still make those songs as you mentioned early in the article if you have a PS2? i'd like an XBOX but as i said before, my financial situation does not permit. i wish.

wow nicely detailed thanks. i was favoured to the guitar hero world tour game as they have decent drum kits as i was unaware that rock band have enhanced the drums! so i think rock band is the winner!
