DC beefs-up next wave of DCUC

DC’s fast catching-up with the glory of Marvel Legends - DCUC is the reason!
I hate Hasbro. They f***ed-up the Marvel Legends toyline. Ever since their debut release, the series has suffered significantly in terms of quality - less articulation, pathetic (or none altogether) paint application, scale, and yes the character line-ups. Even comparing the current products from Toybiz / Marvel Toys’ work on the now-cancelled Legendary Comic Book Heroes, you can see how big a difference went into the toyline when it was still under Toybiz. Oh, and what’s the deal with having all those Walmart and Target exclusives - they either get hoarded right away, or they don’t sell at all until after months of stagnant shelf-life.

They’re not the only threat to the current Marvel Legends line. DC’s toys have caught up…big time.

Remember when DC toys only had about 5-10 points of articulation? That was several line-ups of frustration from some of their fans - Toybiz was easily doing it, so why couldn’t they? Not anymore…(2 series ago, in fact). Mattel, since acquiring the license for the entire DC Universe, has been hard at work in putting more articulation in the latest line of DC toys - namely, DC Universe Classics (sounds like legends…)

Check out the pics (click on them!) of the new wave of DC Universe Classics and judge for yourself. Wave 3 has Deathstroke (DC’s baddest assassin ever!), Nightwing, Robin, Green Lantern, and Sinestro. Solomon Grundy is the Collect and Connect in this series - DC’s term for the Build-A-Figure.

Solomon Grundy rules! Tons of plastic are put to good use on scale, detail and articulation. Deathstroke’s just plain mean with all his accessories. Green Lantern would have been enough to merit “ooh’s” from fans - but they really just had to add “aah’s!” with having Sinestro pair-off with Hal Jordan here. Nightwing and Robin make another impressive pair. Nothing’s gone to waste in this wave.

Here are the line-ups per wave:

Oh, and this one really made my day - the SDCC exclusive Lobo’s finally got pics! And the bastich looks damn worthy of ruining this month’s budget! He’s got a big gun, his Dawg, and 3D glasses! Heh. Take a look:

SDCC-exclusive Lobo & Dawg

I’ve been avoiding DC for several series now - I’ve really always been a Marvel fan. But Hasbro’s consistent notoriety has made me cross-out their line-ups in my list.

Shape up Hasbro!

Kudos to Marvellegends.net and to dcuniverseclassics.com for the images.
