Cooking Popcorn Using Mobile Phones: Just A Hoax?

October 14, 2008

See how our mobile phones emit enough microwaves to cook popcorn!

In this series of video clips taken from several points in the world, this fun, but disturbing experiment reveals just how much microwaves our mobile phones emit. You can literally cook popcorn kernels by focusing the microwaves - the setup is simple: four mobile phones surround the popcorn kernels. Once each of the phones receive calls (yes, of course you have to deliberately call every one of them simultaneously), the miraculous happens. Watch the video and judge for yourselves!

Scary, isn’t it? Just think of how often and how long you spend keeping your mobile phones close to your head when you receive or make calls. Well anyway, the series of these videos started circulating around Youtube, with one user posting  the videos
Speculation has already been widespead as to whether the videos are true or just a viral marketing campaign for something. Are the videos supposed to promote popcorn? Mobile phones? Microwaves?
Well, true or not, either you try it out yourselves or we just wait for the revelation if it is some sort of viral marketing campaign. While we wait, could you pass the popcorn, please…

UHh this is a nice hoax. Considering most cell phones at the very most use maybe a fraction of a watt.

Even if you had 25 phones it wouldnt be enough to cook the popcorn. Most microwaves oven are like 750 watts and it still takes a generic oven about 30 seconds to a full minutes to cook a whole bag. Not to mention that a microwave oven concentrate those watts in a specific area. So placing random cells just aint gona cut it.

    Cute video….

Got something to say?
