The end is near! The end is near! Are you prepared?

If you see an bum with a placard saying “The End is Near”, you’ll probably just shrug it and continue on your daily business. But if you think about it, with thousands of nuclear warheads, hot-headed dictators and some warheads unaccounted, the END COULD BE NEAR!

Here’s a special Geekzkrieg Guide on how to survive a Nuclear War

Geekzkrieg’s How to Survive a Nuclear Attack

1. Protect Yourself From the Blast

In the event of an attack, the first thing you have to do is protect yourself from the blast. You could do this inside your car (if the blast is far enough, otherwise you can kiss your ass goodbye) or (the best) from below your basement. The nuclear blast will be quick, hot and deadly. Then, there’s the problem of nuclear waste or radiactive fallout. The image below outlines where that waste will likely end up. This is based on key cities in the US being targets and the prevalent winds

2. Find Shelter

Once you survived the initial attack, stay away from the radioactive fallout (as outlined above). You’ll have to look for shelter that will keep you safe and keep the radioactive material out. It’s that plain simple. As a guide, here are suggested thickness and mass for buildings that will keep radioactivity out.

Steel Walls – 5 inches

Solid Brick – 16 inches

Packed Earth – 2 feet

Water – 3 feet

Either you go with the President to his secret bunker or find shelter with the specs above. For samples, some doomsday freaks have built shelters to prepare themselves for the end.

3. Get Weapons

Either the world ends with a nuclear attack or some virus makes zombies out our relatives, you still have to find yourself some weapons, baby!

This is where your geek and gamer skills will come in handy! Of course, guns are your first priority. But like a noob, you can start out with knives, bats and clubs. Here are some areas where you can get your hands on weapons IMMEDIATELY

Police Station

The mall – gun shop

Hunting Clubs

A bank – the dead security guards, their body armor and the armored truck may still be useful

Don’t forget to stock up on ammunition too. It’s best to survive the apocalypse with a buddy. Be sure to get a pretty girl so nights are never boring. *wink*

In case you’re still thinking about zombies instead of crazy hicks, there’s a zombie survival guide that you can check out.

4. Provisions

Dress appropriately, throw your retard Emo outfit out the window and get yourself some practical clothing. Imagine a hick hunter and you’ve got the perfect outfit. Again, malls and little towns will offer you a whole slew of possibilities. As for provisions, here are some of the basics that you should stock on

Food (canned goods are great. But don’t get from fallout contaminated areas)

Weapons

Ammo

Flashlight

Radio

Batteries

Maps

Bedsheets

A tent

A Vehicle

First aid kit and other medication

5. Other Tips

Finally, here are some more tips to help you in the final days

Locate other survivors. There is strength in numbers

Communicate – see if you can find out how other communities are faring. They might have a rad base.

Don’t give up hope – continue the fight and always move to safer places.

Lastly, don’t forget to PRO-CREATE. If you’re gonna die, at least you die a happy man!
